Becoming a Certified PA (Private Applicator)





    1. Individuals seeking certification as a private pesticide applicator must pass a written core exam covering pesticide laws, general pest biology, pesticide formulations, personal and environmental safety and label comprehension.

    2. Individuals seeking certification as a private Pesticide applicator to purchase and use fumigants must pass both the core exam and the Category 7D (Fumigation) exam.

    3. Individuals seeking certification as a private fertilizer applicator must pass a written Category 14 exam covering fertilizerĀ application planning, storage, application equipment maintenance, transportation, application techniques, and environmental concerns.
  1. Both pesticide and fertilizer private applicators must also submit a completed application form and submit the $20.00 (5 year) license fee.
