Supervision of Non-Certified Pesticide Applicators at Schools





  1. All pesticide applications to school property (both buildings and grounds used for the instruction and recreation of students) must be performed by certified and licensed applicators or by individuals working under the direct supervision of a certified and licensed supervisor affiliated with the:

    1. School Corporation; or
    2. Pesticide business contracted to apply pesticides at that school.

  2. Direct supervision of non-certified pesticide applicators may be accomplished by either of the following:
    1. The supervising certified applicator is:
      1. Present at the pesticide application site; and
      2. Operating under conditions that permit direct voice contact with the non-certified applicator.
    2. The supervising certified applicator:
      1. has previously examined the pesticide application site while accompanied by the non-certified applicator;
      2. has provided the non-certified applicator with written instructions covering the site-specific precautions to prevent injury to persons or the environment at the pesticide application site; and
      3. is operating under conditions that permit direct voice contact with the non-certified applicator.
